BMI Film Scoring Scholarship at USC
The BMI Film Scoring Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded to two students in the University of Southern California’s Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television program in the Thornton School of Music.  The financial scholarship is based on composition and the level of performance the students demonstrate throughout the school year. The recipients are chosen by the faculty in the scoring program at the Thornton School of Music.

BMI Announces USC Film Scoring Scholars

BMI Film Scoring Scholarship at UCLA
BMI sponsors the BMI Jerry Goldsmith Scholarship at UCLA Extension in their film scoring department. BMI’s scholarship is awarded semi-annually to students enrolled in UCLA Extension’s Certificated Program in Film Scoring.  It develops the talent of promising film scoring students by providing them with education through UCLA Extension’s Entertainment Studies and Performing Arts program.

Named after BMI composer Goldsmith, the legendary and award-winning composer, has written the scores for memorable films and television shows that span more than five decades, such as the films Stagecoach, Planet of the Apes, Patton, Chinatown, Star Trek, The Omen, LA Confidential, and Mulan.

BMI Film Scoring Scholarship at Berkeley
The BMI Film Scoring Scholarship is a yearly tuition scholarship chosen on compositional maturity and talent, as well as financial need.  Each year the scholarship is given in the name of a BMI composer, with that composer leading a master class on film scoring and composition to students at the college. Past composers for whom the scholarship has been given include Christopher Young, Terence Blanchard and Basil Poledouris.

Berklee is the only college in the world that offers an undergraduate degree in Film Scoring, one of the fastest growing departments in the college.  The curriculum at Berklee is geared toward preparing students for careers in the industry.
